Following the news of Miguel’s passing on Tuesday, FC Andorra goalkeeper Owono deactivated his Instagram account after being branded a “murderer” in a massive wave of hostile comments.

The Andorra squad had been closely monitoring Miguel’s critical condition through sporting director Jaume Nogués during their journey back from Tenerife. Anxiety poured over the team, with sources indicating that Owono was the most distressed. Teammates saw him crying and praying constantly inside the locker room, AS reported.

According to club insiders, while Miguel was still undergoing medical treatment, Owono wanted to reach out privately to the forward’s family to offer his apologies and support before making any public statement.

Those close to Owono stated that he had absolutely no intention of causing injury during the challenge. They describe the 25-year-old keeper as a kind, friendly person with zero malicious intent.

Tragedy occurred in the seventh minute of stoppage time during a Spanish second division match between Tenerife and Andorra, with the score tied at 2-2.

Following a Tenerife counterattack, Miguel sprinted toward a long ball played from his own half. Shortly after crossing the halfway line, the forward collided with Owono, who had rushed far out of his penalty area and leaped to clear the ball.

Miguel collapsed on the pitch in pain, prompting medical teams to enter the pitch. Referee Manuel Pérez immediately issued a straight red to Owono before deciding to stop the match. Miguel received emergency treatment on the pitch for over five minutes before being carried off on a stretcher.
