Hyderabad: What began as an appeal to look out for one another has turned into a debate about how much celebrities should expect from their fans. Vidyut Jammwal’s video addressing the reported firing incident involving Tiger Shroff is drawing criticism, with viewers questioning his suggestion that people present could have chased the attackers.

While some understood the actor’s message as a call for people to help each other, others felt his remarks placed an unfair responsibility on ordinary citizens facing an armed threat.

An appeal that divided viewers

In the video, Vidyut questioned why nobody ran after the attackers to catch them. However, critics pointed out that pursuing someone carrying a weapon could have put more lives at risk.

For these viewers, the issue was not whether Tiger deserved help. It was whether untrained bystanders should be expected to confront armed criminals, particularly when celebrities can afford professional security.

Some also questioned whether the actor’s message accounted for the fear and confusion people experience during a shooting.

“Hum itna karte hai aapke liye” draws criticism

One remark in particular, “hum itna karte hai aapke liye,” became a talking point. Viewers questioned what the actor meant by the statement and why supporting a celebrity should come with an expectation of risking personal safety.

Others widened the discussion to what they described as Bollywood’s selective solidarity. Their argument was that celebrities often remain silent on issues affecting ordinary people, yet expect the public to step forward when someone from the industry faces danger.

The criticism reflects a larger question about the relationship between stars and their audiences. Fans buy tickets, watch films and support their favourite actors, but does that support create an obligation to intervene in a potentially deadly situation?

While some continue to see Vidyut’s message as an appeal for compassion, others believe asking people to chase armed attackers takes that expectation too far. His video has now shifted the conversation from helping one another to where the limits of fan loyalty should lie.
