Vrindavan: On Friday, the sixth day of Shardiya Navratri, there was a flood of faith in Maa Katyayani temple located at Siddhapeeth Radhabagh. The process of arrival of devotees started from morning itself for the darshan of the Mother Goddess. On this occasion, Mother Katyayani was beautifully adorned with a special Kanjivaram saree brought from South India. The divine form of the Mother Goddess seated in a bungalow decorated with flowers captivated the hearts of the devotees. Along with darshan and worship in the temple, the Tirobhav Mahotsav of the founder Siddha Saint Kesavanand Maharaj was also celebrated with devotion.

The temple premises were decorated attractively for the special worship of Mother Katyayani on Shashthi Tithi. The famous Kanjivaram saree of South India was the center of special attraction in mother's adornment. According to Kamal Tiwari, the chief priest of the temple, it took about a month for the artisans to make this specially made saree for the mother. Wearing a saree made with traditional art and fine workmanship, the Mother gave a beautiful darshan to the devotees. There was special enthusiasm among the devotees to see the flower decorated bungalow and the divine form of the Mother Goddess. The devotees worshiped as per rituals and prayed for the happiness and prosperity of the family.

Worship of Maa Katyayani and disappearance of Kesavanand Maharaj Mahotsav

Chief priest Kamal Tiwari told that the sixth day of Navratri is dedicated to the worship of Mother Katyayani. According to religious belief, in the Dwapar era, the Gopis of Braj had worshiped Mother Katyayani to get Lord Shri Krishna as their husband. Due to this belief, worship of Mother Katyayani has special significance in Braj. Various dishes were offered to the Mother Goddess in the temple. At the same time, Tirobhav Mahotsav of the temple founder Siddha Saint Kesavanand Maharaj was also celebrated. Devotees paid tribute to Maharaj by worshiping his statue and remembered his spiritual contribution.
