Crew-13 mission successful, four astronauts reach ISS

Crew13 : SpaceX and NASA’s Crew-13 mission successfully launched on 1 October 2026. Four astronauts were sent to the International Space Station (ISS) via Falcon 9 rocket. The team includes NASA’s Jessica Watkins, Luke Delaney, Joshua Kutrick of the Canadian Space Agency and Russian cosmonaut Sergei Teteryatnikov. Jessica Watkins is the commander of the mission. This mission will last for about six months, in which work to scientific research, technical testing and maintenance of the space station will be done. The launch of the mission was earlier postponed due to a technical problem. The successful launch on October 1 was accomplished after replacing a faulty valve in the Crew Dragon’s propulsion system. The spacecraft reached the ISS and docked after a journey of about eight hours. According to NASA, this was the fastest launch-to-docking journey for an American spacecraft to reach the ISS.

Mission becomes memorable for Joshua Kutrick (Crew13)

Canadian astronaut Joshua Kutrick is in the news for a special reason in the Crew-13 mission. He will remain in space for about six months, while his wife Heather is going to give birth to their third child during this period. Kutrick and Heather already have two children. Arrangements have been made by NASA and the Canadian Space Agency to maintain contact with the family. This is not the first case of an astronaut giving birth to a child while in space. Even before this, a child has been born in the families of some astronauts during their space missions. This is Kutrick’s first space mission and he is the first Canadian astronaut to visit the ISS under NASA’s Commercial Crew Program.

The name of the mission is to Apollo-13 (Crew13)

The Apollo-13 mission is also commemorated in the Crew-13 mission patch. There were serious technical problems during the Apollo 13 lunar mission in 1970, but the astronauts returned safely to Earth. Keeping in mind the spirit of this historic mission, the Crew-13 team has paid tribute to Apollo-13 in its mission patch. During this mission, Crew-13 astronauts will work on research to human health, diseases like heart disease and Parkinson’s, plant cultivation and health monitoring technologies in space.
