Tezzbuzz Desk– In the Asian Games 2026, India's star shooter Isha Singh brought glory to the country by winning the silver medal in women's 25 meter pistol shooting. On Monday, September 28, the ninth day of the competition, Isha performed brilliantly in the finals and remained in the race for the medal. However, the match with Chinese shooter Xiao Jiaruixian for the gold medal was very exciting and in the shoot-off after equal scores, Isha had to be content with silver. Isha Singh was a part of the Indian team, which could not get a medal in the women's 25 meter team event. However, in the individual event, Isha qualified for the finals and gave India another medal with her performance there. The 21-year-old shooter started the finals on a strong note and finished first in the first two series. After this, she remained in second place till the fifth series also.

At one time during the finals, Isha had even reached fourth place. Her performance in the seventh series was such that she slipped to fourth position. After this she made a brilliant comeback and reached third place. She competed with Korean shooter Kim Hyun Suk for the second place. There was a shoot-off between the two and after having equal points in two consecutive shoot-offs, Isha took the lead in the third shoot-off. With this performance, she secured the silver medal by securing second place. After this, for the gold medal, Isha competed with China's Xiao Jiaruixian, who was in first place at that time. There was a tough competition between the two shooters in the last series. Isha performed strongly and equaled the score of the Chinese player. Since both had 38-38 points, the gold medal had to be decided by shoot-off.

In the first shoot-off also, both the shooters had equal points. This then necessitated a second shoot-off. The match became increasingly exciting, but Isha missed the third shoot-off. She hit only two out of five shots on target, while China's Xiao Jiaruixian hit three shots on target. With this, the gold medal went to the Chinese shooter and Isha got the silver medal. This is Isha Singh's third silver medal in the Asian Games. Earlier, in the last Asian Games, he had won silver in the individual event. In the same competition, he also won a silver medal in the team event. This is India's second medal in pistol shooting in the ongoing Asian Games. Earlier, the pair of Kamaljeet and Suruchi had won the gold medal in the 10 meter air pistol mixed event. With Isha's silver, India's total medal count in the Asian Games 2026 has increased to 39. This is India's seventh silver and overall 12th medal in shooting. Despite missing out on gold by a narrow margin, Isha Singh's performance was an important achievement for the Indian shooting contingent.
