The Ruins of Lordaeron are found in southern Tirisfal Glades, above the former Undercity. The most convenient route uses the portal network in Stormwind, although the exact location you see can depend on which version of Tirisfal Glades your character is using.

Use The Stormwind Portal Room

Start in Stormwind City and make your way to the Portal Room. It is located in the Wizard’s Sanctum in the Mage Quarter. Look through the available portals for the one leading to Undercity.

The portal does not necessarily place you inside the old Undercity. In the current version of the game, players who have completed the Battle for Lordaeron are generally transported to the area outside the ruined city in Tirisfal Glades. The ruins are directly in front of you.

After arriving, simply leave the portal area and look toward the large ruined fortress. The remains of Lordaeron are the large stone structure surrounding the old Undercity entrance.

Finding The Ruins After Taking The Portal

Follow the path toward the large ruins and enter through the main gates. The courtyard and ruined palace above the former Undercity are collectively known as the Ruins of Lordaeron.

If you are looking for the old throne room, continue through the ruined palace instead of immediately heading away from the area. The throne room is one of the most recognizable parts of Lordaeron and is tied to several major Warcraft story events.

Keep in mind that the Ruins of Lordaeron are not the same thing as the modern interior of Undercity. The old Forsaken capital was located underneath the ruins, while the ruined palace and courtyard remain above ground.

What If The Portal Sends You To A Different Version?

World of Warcraft uses different timelines for certain older zones. This can make Tirisfal Glades look different from what you expected.

If you arrive and cannot access the version of Lordaeron you need, look for Zidormi near the Ruins of Lordaeron. She is the bronze dragon who allows players to switch between different versions of certain zones.

Speak with Zidormi and choose the option that takes you to the past. After changing the zone’s timeline, you can return to the ruins and access the older version of the area.

This is particularly important if you are trying to see the pre-Battle for Azeroth version of Undercity or need to interact with content that belongs to that timeline.

Alternative Ways To Reach Lordaeron

The Stormwind portal is normally the simplest choice, but there are other ways to reach the area.

• Ask a Mage for a Portal to Undercity. This can place you near the Ruins of Lordaeron, depending on the character’s timeline.

• Use another character or travel method to reach Tirisfal Glades, then travel to the ruins by mount.

• If you are already in Eastern Kingdoms, use the flight network to get as close to Tirisfal Glades as possible before continuing to the ruins.

Transportation options can change with updates, so the Stormwind portal is usually the easiest route.

Why Are The Ruins Of Lordaeron Important?

Lordaeron is one of the most important locations in Warcraft history. The city was once the capital of the human kingdom of Lordaeron before the Scourge destroyed it. The area is also strongly connected to Arthas Menethil, the fall of King Terenas, and the rise of the Forsaken.

The Ruins later became the entrance to Undercity, making the location familiar to generations of World of Warcraft players. The Battle for Lordaeron in Battle for Azeroth changed the area dramatically and left the city in ruins.
