Bhangarh Fort, located in Alwar district of Rajasthan, is famous for its historical heritage as well as mysterious stories. This ancient fort situated amidst the Aravali hills is the center of attraction for tourists from all over the country. The ruins of the fort, old temples, markets and palace complexes give a glimpse of the glorious history of Rajasthan. Bhangarh Fort was built by Raja Bhagwant Das of Amer in the second half of the 16th century. Later, the history of this fort is also believed to be linked to his son Madho Singh. There are many folktales popular about Bhangarh. The most famous story is to a monk. It is said that the sage had put a condition before the construction of the fort that the shadow of the fort should not reach his ashram. According to folklore, the condition was later violated and Bhangarh was in trouble. However, this story is not historically confirmed and is seen as local folklore.

In another story, there is mention of the fort's princess Ratnavati and a Tantrik. In this tale, the story of the Tantrik's attempt to impress the princess and the subsequent desolation of Bhangarh is narrated. This is also a folk tale, the proven historical basis of which is not clear. Gopinath temple, Someshwar temple, remains of the market, havelis and palace complex can still be seen inside the fort. A large number of tourists reach Bhangarh to see these ancient structures.

Horror stories about Bhangarh are also quite popular. For this reason, it is counted among the famous 'haunted' places of India. However, there is no scientific evidence available regarding things to ghosts. There are fixed entry times for tourists at this historical site under the protection of the Archaeological Survey of India. The unique combination of history, architecture and folklore makes Bhangarh Fort one of the major tourist destinations of Rajasthan. Tourists arriving here during the day can enjoy the ruins of the ancient fort and the surrounding Aravali hills.
