This report has been prepared by the National Disaster Risk Reduction and Management Authority i.e. NDRRMA. The authority presented the report in a press conference on Friday.

The death toll in the flash floods increased to 1344 on Friday. The death toll has increased after more bodies were found from the affected areas.

On August 26, a large chunk of snow and rocks suddenly fell down near the Nepal-Tibet border. After this there was a sudden flood. This flood caused massive devastation in cities and villages in northern and central parts of Nepal.

Scenes of major devastation were seen in many areas after the floods. According to the government’s initial report, 32,933 people have been affected. More than 6,500 students have been affected by the damage caused to educational institutions.

Four health centers were completely damaged in the flood affected areas. Three other health centers have suffered partial damage.

About 55 kilometers of roads were completely damaged. There was movement of vehicles on these roads. Apart from this, 37 such bridges were completely damaged through which vehicles used to pass. 68 suspension bridges have also been damaged. However, a detailed assessment of the damage has not yet been completed.

KC claimed that the disaster caused a loss of more than Rs 800 billion. He also criticized the government. He said the government did not move quickly to assess needs after the disaster.

KC demanded the government to make a system of all the parties. He said that with this the distribution of relief material can be done more effectively and by involving all the people. He also demanded the formation of a high-level parliamentary committee to monitor relief and rehabilitation work.
