Monsoon is once again about to gain full momentum across the country. According to the latest forecast of the Indian Meteorological Department (IMD), there is a possibility of light to heavy rain in most areas of the country next week. At the same time, light rain is expected to continue in the capital Delhi and NCR areas for the next few days.

The Meteorological Department has informed that light rain may be seen in many areas in Delhi-NCR between Friday afternoon and evening. During this period, the maximum temperature of the capital can be recorded between 33 to 35 degrees Celsius and the minimum temperature can be recorded between 26 to 28 degrees Celsius. Light rain is expected to continue on Saturday and Sunday also, due to which the temperature will remain around 32 to 35 degrees. It is noteworthy that after the sunshine in Delhi on Thursday morning, light showers in the afternoon gave some relief to the people from the humid heat.

Pressure builds in Coastal Bengal, alert of heavy rain in these states

According to meteorologists, a deep pressure area is forming over coastal West Bengal. Due to its effect, there is a possibility of very heavy rain in many parts of Chhattisgarh on August 14. Apart from this, intermittent heavy rains may continue over the western Himalayan regions and plains of northwest India throughout the week.

Talking about the states of North-West India, heavy rain is expected in Himachal Pradesh on 15-16 August and 19 August, while in Uttarakhand on 15 and 18-19 August. There is a possibility of heavy rain in Punjab, Haryana, Chandigarh, Delhi, Western and Eastern Uttar Pradesh during 14 to 19 August. Along with this, there may be heavy rain at some places in East Rajasthan on August 14. There is a possibility of very heavy rain in the hilly states of Himachal Pradesh on 17-18 August and in Uttarakhand on 16-17 August.

How will the weather be in Central, Eastern and North-Eastern India?

There will be accumulation of clouds in Central India also. Heavy rain has been warned in Western Madhya Pradesh on 14-15 August, East Madhya Pradesh on 14 and 18 August, Vidarbha from 14 to 16 August and Chhattisgarh on 14, 16 and 17 August. The Meteorological Department believes that during the next 5 to 6 days, extremely heavy rains may also be seen in some parts of Madhya Pradesh and Chhattisgarh.

The weather is going to remain like this in the eastern Indian states – Andaman and Nicobar, West Bengal, Jharkhand, Sikkim, Bihar and Odisha from 14 to 19 August. Northeast India may see heavy rain over Arunachal Pradesh on August 14 and 18-19, Assam and Meghalaya between August 14 and 19, and Nagaland, Manipur, Mizoram and Tripura on August 14-16 and 19. Rain has also been predicted in Konkan, Goa, Central Maharashtra and Gujarat in Western India.

Monsoon situation in South India and situation of last 24 hours

Over South Peninsular India, isolated rain is likely over Coastal Andhra Pradesh, Yanam, North and South Interior Karnataka, Rayalaseema, Tamil Nadu, Puducherry, Karaikal and Telangana during August 14 to 19. At the same time, there is a possibility of rain in Kerala, Mahe and Lakshadweep on 18-19 August. However, widespread to widespread rainfall is expected over Kerala, Tamil Nadu and Puducherry during the next 5-6 days.

If we look at the data of the last 24 hours, a record 21 cm rainfall was recorded in West Bengal and Odisha, located in the Ganga plains. Jharkhand and East Rajasthan received 12 to 20 cm rainfall, while Western Uttar Pradesh, Western Rajasthan, Madhya Pradesh, Konkan, Madhya Maharashtra, Tamil Nadu, Coastal Karnataka and Meghalaya received heavy rainfall of 7 to 11 cm.
