Naini, Prayagraj. On Sunday morning, a 32-year-old woman, fed up with illness, committed suicide by jumping into a well in Purva Khas village under the Industrial Area police station. The incident caused a stir in the village. According to information, the deceased has been identified as Ravita Devi, wife of Ajay Bharti. Ravita lived in the village with her two children, Rishi (4 years) and Rihansh (6 years). Her husband, Ajay Bharti, has been working as a laborer in Mumbai for the last six months.
According to villagers, Ravita had been ill for quite some time and was undergoing treatment. Her mental condition is also reported to be unstable. Family and villagers suspect that distress over her illness led to her taking this extreme step. Upon receiving information about the incident, villagers rushed to the well and informed the police. After a considerable effort, the police team, who arrived on the scene, pulled the woman’s body from the dry well.
The well was empty of water and filled with gas. Police suspect the woman died of suffocation. Industrial Police Station in-charge Kamlesh Kumar Patel stated that the body has been sent for a post-mortem examination. The exact cause of death will be determined only after the post-mortem report arrives. The case is being investigated. Ravita’s father-in-law has already passed away. Her brother-in-law, Vijay, and brother-in-law, Rajkumar, live separately. Her husband, Ajay, has been informed of the incident over the phone.
