Guwahati : The flood situation in Assam remained grim on Monday . The death toll rose to 100 after two more people died , while around1.4lakh people were affected by the deluge in seven districts . An official of the Assam State Disaster Management Authority (ASDMA) said that many rivers were flowing above the danger mark , increasing the risk of flooding in new areas .


Two people have died due to floods in Golaghat and Karbi Anglong districts in the past 24 hours. With these deaths , the total number of deaths due to floods this year has risen to 100. Currently, 456 villages in Assam are affected by floods , while 11,933.46 hectares of crop area has been damaged.


According to the daily flood report of ASDMA , more than 1.37 lakh people have been affected by the floods in Charaideo , Darrang , Golaghat , Jorhat , Karbi Anglong , Nagaon and Sivasagar districts .


According to reports , Golaghat district is the worst affected by the floods , with around 70,000 people affected, followed by Sivasagar with around 40,000 and Jorhat with over 16,000 .


An ASDMA official said the Dhansiri River in Golaghat and Numaligarh and the Kushiyara River in Sribhumi were flowing above the danger mark . He said the water level of the Dhansiri River in Golaghat district was continuously rising , so people were advised to stay away from the river. The ASDMA said the administration was running 125 relief camps and relief distribution centers in six districts , where 49,061 people were currently being cared for.
