New Delhi: Amid rumours that he is no longer part of India’s plans for the 2027 ODI World Cup, Rohit Sharma produced a statement knock in the 3rd ODI against England at the Lord’s Cricket Ground in London on Sunday to shut his critics in style. Rohit slammed a stunning knock of 138 runs to keep India in the hunt in their mammoth 387-run chase.
The Hitman shattered multiple records with his 138-run knock off 110 deliveries, which was laced with 17 fours and five sixes. Rohit became the first Indian batter to score an ODI century at Lord’s, surpassing the previous best of 90 by former India captain Sourav Ganguly. It was his 34th ODI century, making him the oldest Indian to score a hundred across any format of the game at 39 years and 80 days.

The partnership between the duo is the highest opening stand for India in ODIs at Lord’s. It is also the second-highest partnership at Lord’s for India for any wicket, behind only the 169-run 5th wicket stand between MS Dhoni and Suresh Raina in 2011.
* Rohit Sharma notched up his hundred off just 84 balls in the 3rd ODI against England on Sunday. He recorded the fastest ODI ton by an Indian and the third-fastest overall at Lord’s. Jos Buttler’s 67-ball hundred against Sri Lanka in 2014 is the fastest ODI ton by any batter at the venue.
