New Delhi, April 29: In a disturbing turn of events, a man reportedly killed his wife's suspected lover in the Shalimar Bagh area of northwest Delhi and subsequently turned himself in to the authorities. A case has been filed under the relevant sections of the Bharatiya Nyaya Sanhita (BNS) at the Shalimar Bagh Police Station, with investigations currently ongoing.
According to law enforcement officials, the case was resolved quickly after the suspect voluntarily approached the police station to admit his crime. At approximately 4:20 p.m., Virender, aged 35 and a resident of Indira Colony, confessed to having murdered his tenant, Kanhaiya, who was 29 years old, inside his jhuggi.
Police teams acted swiftly, arriving at the location where the accused guided them to Jhuggi No. T-210. Upon entering, they discovered the victim lying on a bed with severe injuries, including a slit throat and multiple stab wounds. The weapon believed to have been used in the murder was recovered from the scene, and the suspect was found wearing clothes stained with blood.
Initial investigations revealed that Virender harbored suspicions about an affair between his wife and the deceased, which allegedly motivated the violent act. CCTV footage from the vicinity confirmed the accused's presence at the crime scene.
A crime scene investigation team, along with experts from the Forensic Science Laboratory (FSL) and an Executive Magistrate, examined the area, gathered evidence, and completed necessary legal procedures. The victim's body was subsequently sent for a post-mortem examination.
In an unrelated case on April 23, a 23-year-old woman was reportedly murdered by her husband in the Welcome area of northeast Delhi. The suspect, identified as Deepak, 28, surrendered to the police around 1:30 A.M., claiming he had strangled his wife during an argument at their rented home in Janta Mazdoor Colony.
Upon police arrival, they found the woman on the floor. She was transported to a hospital, where she was pronounced dead on arrival. A case has been registered under Section 103(1) of the BNS, and the suspect has been taken into custody. During questioning, he attributed the crime to ongoing domestic disputes.
