Habitat is firmly up there among my favourite affordable places to shop for homeware. Over the years, the brand has delivered several viral hits, but few have reached the cult status of its bestselling checkerboard range, which famously sold out within two weeks of launching.

Now, to the delight of interiors fans, the brand has brought the collection back with a host of brand-new additions. With prices starting from £6, the range remains refreshingly accessible, but you'd be hard-pressed to guess from the look alone.

The edit showcases that signature check print in a glossy resin finish, from trinket trays to picture frames. It's reminiscent of Addison Ross's bestselling lacquer designs - equally eye-catching, though on the more luxury end of the spectrum.

Designed to brighten up every corner of the home, the collection comes in a variety of colourways to suit different tastes. For smaller storage, shoppers can tuck jewellery into a brown-and-cream round trinket box (£6) or opt for a brighter pink-and-green version (£7), which brings a fun, retro feel.

For favourite pieces on display, the round trays (£16) in a softer brown-and-white palette offer a stylish solution. There are also larger coffee table trays (£18), ideal for holding candles, coasters or a current read.

At the top end of the price range are the mirrors, coming in at £35 each. The dressing table mirror is perfect for adding a chic, boutique-hotel-inspired touch, while the round wall mirror makes a statement feature that instantly lifts a plain wall.

As the collection has only just relaunched, reviews are still limited. But someone who enjoyed the checkered picture frame shared: "A cool frame that goes well with a cottage core house."

And someone who purchased a trinket box said: "The beautiful checkered design is timeless and elegant. I bought two - I loved it so much, one for the bedroom and one for the lounge. Well worth the money, they look very expensive."

However, someone else noted: "An okay product, it's much smaller than it appeared online." If this is an issue, Addison Ross has a wealth of small to large-sized trays, all in the brand's signature glossy finish and vibrant colourways.

Or, for super small items such as rings, Oliver Bonas has a pretty selection. These Sun Swirl Trinket Dishes are on sale, too, down to £4.50 from £14.50.

On a brighter note, this Habitat fan chimed in: "I bought this as a gift, and my partner was very happy. It adds a nice finishing touch to our new flat and holds things we need to grab quickly, like our keys."
