Police are appealing to the public for help to locate a man who has absconded from a secure hospital in Greenwich, east London - but have urged Brits not to approach him if he's spotted. Metropolitan Police officers were called shortly after 1.20pm on Wednesday, March 31, and were informed that a 46-year-old man named Menelik had absconded from staff while on an escorted visit to shops near Deptford Dockland Light Railway Station.

He is believed to have then boarded a number 53 bus towards Lambeth North. Menelik is described as 5ft9 tall and of medium build.

He was last seen wearing a black jacket, black jogging bottoms, and blue trainers.

He is believed to have links to Streatham and is also known to frequent the Brixton area.

Police are asking for help from the public to locate him, but have urged people who may see him to call 999 immediately rather than approach him.

PC Luke Hill, who is leading the investigation, said: "My team are continuing to carry out extensive enquiries to locate Menelik, but he remains missing.

"If seen, we ask the public not to approach him and call 999."

Anyone who has other information about his movements should call 101 quoting CAD 3843/31MAR.
