New Delhi. On Tuesday, the Supreme Court gave several important instructions on the Intensive Review of Voters (SIR) in West Bengal. In the Supreme Court, CJI Surya Kant, Justice Jaimalya Bagchi and R. Mahadevan’s bench directed the West Bengal government and the Election Commission to provide necessary and unhindered conditions to the judicial officers verifying the names and other details of voters to function properly. During the hearing in the Supreme Court, CJI Surya Kant got angry when some petitioners raised questions on the judicial officers. He said that raising questions on judicial officers will not be tolerated. He called it crossing limits.
The CJI also gave a stern warning to the petitioners raising questions on the judicial officers conducting the SIR in West Bengal. He said that such petitions give a wrong message of lack of trust in the system. CJI said that now this game starts. There is a total case of 52 lakh people. This is a petition filed before time. The CJI took a strict stand and said how can one dare to file such a petition. Raising questions on judicial officers will not be tolerated. During the hearing, the Supreme Court bench said that the judicial officers looking after the SIR process in West Bengal have so far heard the objections and claims of 10.16 lakh voters whose names are in danger of being removed from the voter list. The Supreme Court directed the Election Commission that no new mandatory steps should be implemented in the SIR without the approval of the Chief Justice of Calcutta High Court. The Supreme Court asked the Election Commission to immediately resolve the problems arising in its portal and not allow such problems to arise in future.

The Supreme Court bench said in an important instruction that no officer of the Election Commission can review the decisions to SIR of judicial officers. Supreme Court The Supreme Court also said that the Chief Justice of Calcutta High Court can form a bench of former Chief Justice and High Court judges to hear appeals. The Supreme Court also directed the Election Commission to issue a notification for this. The bench said that login IDs of judicial officers looking after the SIR process should be created soon. So that the work of revising the voter list can proceed without any hindrance. The ruling TMC and the Election Commission are at loggerheads over SIR in West Bengal. TMC alleges that the Election Commission in collaboration with BJP is deleting the names of its voters. After the abolition of SIR in West Bengal, information about the deletion of names of about 60 lakh people came to light. At the same time, notice has been issued to 40 lakh people for logical discrepancy.
