New Delhi: Kagiso Rabada scripted history as South Africa rattled the West Indies in a crucial T20 World Cup 2026 Super Eight clash in Ahmedabad on Thursday. Opting to bowl first, South Africa bowlers, led by Rabada, pushed the West Indies side against the wall by claiming as many as four wickets in the powerplay.
Rabada was the one to make early inroads for the team as he sent back two batters back to the pavilion in just the third over. After Keshav Maharaj and Marco Jansen bowled the first two overs of the first innings, Rabada was brought in and he was quick to provide a breakthrough on just the second ball of the over sending back Shai Hope for 16 runs.
On the fifth delivery of the same over, he bowled a beauty to dispatch Shimron Hetmyer for 2 runs putting West Indies in trouble. By virtue of the two quick strikes, Rabada entered an elite list of South African bowlers to have claimed most wickets in the history of T20 World Cups. Rabada took his tally to 32 wickets in the marquee event, overtaking Dale Steyn who has 30 wickets to his name.
Rabada who was joint-second on the list, pushed Steyn to the third spot, remaining a position behind Anrich Nortje who has 37 wickets to his name and leads the list.
