IND vs SA, T20 World Cup 2026: Team India’s winning streak in the T20 World Cup 2026 came to an end in the Super-8. Under the captaincy of Suryakumar Yadav, the Indian team had performed brilliantly in the initial stages of the tournament and registered consecutive wins. But in the very first match of Super-8, the team had to face defeat by South Africa by 76 runs. This is not just a defeat, but can be considered a very big defeat from the point of view of T20 cricket. The entire team’s batting looked weak in this match, but the failure of two players in particular was the most impressive.
In this Super-8 match played at Narendra Modi Stadium in Ahmedabad, South Africa, batting first, scored 187 runs for seven wickets. Team India needed a fast start to answer this. The pressure was heavy for Ishan Kishan and Abhishek Sharma who came to bat first. In the very first over, Ishan Kishan returned to the pavilion without scoring any runs on four balls. His early dismissal proved to be a big blow for the team and Team India came under initial pressure.
After Ishaan’s early dismissal, the responsibility now fell on Abhishek Sharma. But he also did not live up to the team’s expectations and returned to the pavilion after scoring only 15 runs in 12 balls. Earlier, he had been out for zero in three matches. This time, despite getting the start, his disappointing performance became a major reason for the team’s defeat. Due to his early dismissal, the team’s middle order came under pressure and the balance of the innings got disturbed.
After the dismissal of Ishan Kishan and Abhishek Sharma, it was the responsibility of Tilak Verma to stay at the crease and take care of the team. But Tilak Verma also failed on this occasion. He had to return to the pavilion after scoring one run in only two balls. Because of this, the initial pressure of the Indian team increased further and the batsmen kept getting out while playing under pressure.
The early fall of Team India’s first two wickets put pressure on the entire batting order. Due to the failure of Ishan Kishan, Abhishek Sharma and Tilak Verma, the team could never pick up the run pace and could score only 111 runs in 18.5 overs. Due to these initial setbacks, India had to face a crushing defeat at the hands of South Africa in the Super-8 and the winning streak ended.
