Suryakumar Yadav Statement: In the match played against USA, Team India’s batsmen could not live up to the expectations and the team looked under pressure throughout the innings. At one time India’s score was 6 wickets for 77 runs and the situation had become very difficult. In such difficult circumstances, captain Suryakumar Yadav took the responsibility and played a brilliant inning of 84 not out and took the team to a respectable score. Later, the Indian bowlers gave a disciplined and effective performance and led the team to victory by 29 runs.

After the match, Suryakumar Yadav was chosen player of the match for his excellent innings. However, despite the victory, the captain did not seem completely satisfied and clearly said that the team will have to improve its batting further.

Played responsible innings in difficult circumstances

In the post match conversation, Suryakumar Yadav said that when the team had lost 6 wickets for 77 runs, the pressure was very high at that time and only he can understand that situation properly. He told that he was confident that if he remained at the crease till the end, he could make a difference in the match.

Referring to his experience, Suryakumar said that he has played a lot of cricket at places like Azad Maidan and Cross Maidan in Mumbai, where one gets to learn to bat in difficult conditions. This experience came in handy during this innings and he batted with patience and took charge of the team.

Need for improvement even after victory

The captain spoke openly on both the pitch and batting. He said that the wicket was a little different from usual and the weather conditions were also not completely favourable, which affected the preparation of the pitch. Despite this, he admitted that the team could have batted better.

Suryakumar Yadav said that even after winning, there is a lot to learn and the biggest lesson from this match is that the batsmen will have to play more intelligently.

Update on fitness of Bumrah and Washington Sundar

After the match, the captain also gave information about the fitness of Jasprit Bumrah and Washington Sundar. Bumrah could not play in this match due to high fever, while Washington Sundar could not join the team till now due to injury.

Suryakumar told that the team has five days time before the next match and during this time the players will return fully fit. He said that Washington Sundar will soon join the team and his condition is fine. Bumrah’s health is also better now and he has been given rest. The captain is confident that the team will come out stronger in the next match.
