Gurugram, 21 October (Read News). Municipal Corporation Gurugram Commissioner Pradeep Dahiya shared information about the efforts and plans of the corporation towards making the cleanliness system of the city more effective. The Municipal Commissioner said that about 1200 tonnes of garbage is generated every day in the city, out of which about 40 percent of the waste comes from Bulk Waste Generator (BWG). The Corporation is motivating these BWG institutions to ensure disposal of waste in their premises under the Solid Waste Management Rules-2016. He said that many BWGs of Gurugram are doing commendable work in this direction and the remaining BWGs are also being actively involved. The Municipal Commissioner said that the colonies which want to include themselves in the category of BWG can do so and start waste management at their own level.

800 vehicles will be deployed in door-to-door system

Municipal Commissioner Pradeep Dahiya said that under the new door-to-door garbage collection system, 800 vehicles will be deployed, which will also include e-rickshaws for narrow streets. This will make the door-to-door garbage collection system even more effective. He clarified that at present the Municipal Corporation is collecting garbage from houses through 330 vehicles and is not charging any fee for it. If any person charges, citizens should immediately inform the corporation, in such cases an FIR will be lodged.

Call for cooperation from citizens

The Municipal Commissioner appealed to the citizens to separate wet and dry garbage and put the garbage only in door-to-door vehicles or trolleys. He said that the role of every citizen is important in building a clean Gurugram. He also warned that animal dung should not be thrown into the sewers as it causes blockage of sewers. Action will also be taken against those who block sewers and have illegal drinking water connections. The Municipal Corporation is also active in the field of pollution control.
