Think again as a new survey shows that almost nine in ten adults in the US have at least one risk factor for what is being called Cardiovascular‑Kidney‑Metabolic Syndrome ( CKM ), a newly defined cluster of interlinked diseases involving the heart, kidneys, metabolism and weight. Yet most people barely know it exists.



A highlights that nearly 90% of adults in a large cohort had at least one risk factor for CKM syndrome, which encompasses heart disease, kidney dysfunction, diabetes and obesity . The research emphasizes that the presence of multiple CKM components significantly increases risks for all-cause mortality, cardiovascular disease and end-stage kidney disease (ESKD).
