Support Initiatives for Flood Victims
In response to the devastating floods impacting Jammu and Kashmir, Ladakh, and Himachal Pradesh, telecom companies Airtel and Jio have announced a three-day extension of validity for prepaid users, along with a grace period for postpaid bill payments.
Jyotiraditya Scindia, the Minister of Civil Aviation, confirmed that the Department of Telecommunications has implemented Intra-Circle Roaming (ICR) in the affected areas.
He shared on social media, "My thoughts and prayers are with everyone affected by the severe rains and landslides in Jammu and Kashmir. To help maintain connectivity during this challenging period, @DoT_India has enabled Intra-Circle Roaming (ICR), allowing users to connect to any available network. We welcome your feedback to assess its effectiveness and enhance support in the region."
A representative from Jio stated that the company is actively working to restore connectivity in various regions to ensure access to emergency services and facilitate communication among families.
Mobile users will benefit from unlimited voice calls and 2GB of high-speed data daily, free of charge, while JioHome users will receive an additional three days of benefits from their last active plan.
